Lets’ not kid ourselves!

Weightloss can only occur if we change our habits. Yes the habits which have got you to the position you’re in now of being overweight and uncomfortable with your life.

The fundamental scientific truth of weightloss -  is that it will only occur if a calorie deficit is created. To lose 1lb of fat ‘costs’ approx 3,500 calories, and those calories are ‘paid’ for by eating fewer calories than the body needs to stay the way it is, or by burning more calories than the body needs to stay the way it is, or a combination of the two.

The way to break through old eating/thinking habits is to develop an eating plan that will help you create such a deficit without the bother of continually counting calories. A little bit of planning ahead of time can save you loads of time when you’re considering what to eat at meal times.

The easiest way to discover what habits have led you to your current position is to begin to examine your current lifestyle habits.

  • How many hours do you work?
  • How much time do you spend travelling each day?
  • What do you currently eat for breakfast?
  • What do you currently eat for lunch?
  • What do you currently eat for dinner?
  • What snacks do you eat in between mealtimes?
  • How much physical exercise do you realistically get during a 24 hour period?
  • How do you utilise your ‘spare’ time?
  • How much ‘spare’ time do you have each day?

Take each of the questions above and assess where you can make realistic changes, I expect you heard the old saying, “if you keep on doing what you’ve always done, then you’ll keep on getting what you always got.” Also I don’t know whether you know that the definition of insanity is, “to keep on doing the same thing and expecting a different result.”
Keep in mind the goal you’ve set for yourself and ask for each question – How can I change this to be more supportive of my goal to _____________________?
